“It
Takes Power to Lead”
From the President:
Fellow chapter members and
associates,
It is a great time to be a
North Fulton Jaycee!
So far this year has
started with a board retreat, we planned out the year, and the vice presidents
have many incredible projects planned along with chapter favorites. Big Thank
You to Wendell Whitfield for training us. He was awesome!
Our blue chip was completed
and sent in to the state to be submitted to the National organization. Thank you
to Andrea Perry and Jessica Rich.
The board is working hard
and of course they are the greatest. I can brag can't I? I'm a proud president!
YOU WERE CHOSEN TO BE ON A
DIRECTOR’S LIST, not just a number on someone’s list. If you have not received a
director’s call, please call me so I can verify your phone number is correct.
The directors will be calling each week to inform you of upcoming projects.
Also a Calendar of events
was sent out this week, (disregard the previous Calendar you received.) if you
do not receive the Calendar, perhaps we do not have your current address. If you
have email, you can email me at
power2lead06@yahoo.com or you can leave me a message at 770-401-2524.
Our new website will be up
and running by March, our Webmaster is Dusty McKeon with help from Tony Crespin.
Both gentlemen are doing quite a bit of work to get the website looking its
best, please let them know your input for our latest public relations tool.
The Year End Awards,
Installation Banquet and Valentine’s Social (Cassie Crocker) and Chili Cook Off
(Casey Basting) were both chaired by First time Chair-people. You all were
great!
Our State President and
First Lady Dave and Connie Brooker attended our Year End Awards, Installation
Banquet and Valentine’s Social. Thank you so much for attending and Thank you to
Dave for swearing the President and Board of Directors for 2006. Big Thank you
to Woodstock, Macon, Kennesaw and Marietta for attending our Banquet and /or
Chili Cook Off! Thank You to Robert Mentus III for judging at the Cook Off. And
Thank you to Region Director Stacia for “making” me sing Karaoke to Poison’s
“Every Rose Has Its Thorn.” Well I had to do that fearless leader thing… The
funniest was Corey Parson’s version of Cartman doing Come Sail Away! What a
hoot! It was great to see Eric and Corey Parson at the Chili cook off.
Richie Judd, It was a
pleasure to have been on your board. I have learned a lot from this past year
and I hope I can make you a proud Chairman of the board.
Please welcome with me our
Newest Members: Jay Adams, Bonnie, Wayne and Cassie Johnson.
The next time you attend a
membership meeting, you will be asked to stand when we have new members getting
sworn in. And if you haven't gotten re-dedicated to become a New Generation of
Leaders, you too can get sworn in again! (ID Project Idea> Tony Crespin) This is
what we did tonight and it was totally awesome!
Leadership Development is
the greatest gift anyone can receive in a lifetime. This organization teaches us
these principles through the community or the volunteer opportunities we
participate in, through the management or money making projects we conduct,
through the haunted house process or chairing and co-chairing rooms, through the
friends we have made or the new ones we are going to meet, through the fun we
have at social functions or the bettering of ourselves in the individual
development area, its all of these attributes that constitute leadership
development. I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone for allowing me
to be your local president. It is my hope that this family continues to grow in
numbers, to strive to make many great impacts in the Alpharetta Community, and
for everyone to achieve through the process of leadership development.
My presidential challenge
for members and associates (not including the board of directors) this
trimester: “We all bring something unique to this family, what is your gift? And
how can you help in making this family-chapter grow as “A New Generation of
Leaders”? What you do today as members, mentors, and associates, helps to ensure
leadership development continues to move forward.
WE achieve nothing without
YOU.
Congratulations to Pam (Wright) Hubble and Amanda Clark
for having girl babies! Welcome Emily Hubble and April Clark!
Sincerely,
Julie Papp
Management Vice President
Hello North Fulton!! In
management we are keeping busy. First I want to thank Casey Basting, Wendell
Whitfield and Tony Crespin for a GREAT chili cook off. Also a big
Thank you to Robert Mentus (Our State VP), Stacia Mentus (Our
Mountain Region Director) Kennesaw, Marietta and Macon for
coming to visit us. We enjoyed having you and hope you enjoyed your time with
us. We were able to finish raising the money for St. Jude and had fun doing
it. In the month of March we are having our Play Station 2 Tournament
coming up. It will be held on March 16th at 7:00pm at the Whitfield
house, the cost is $10 to enter. Kenny Buckles is the chairman on this
project. So if you are a video game junky and want to come to show your skills
give him a call. Also on March 25 we have the State Bowling tournament in Macon
if you are interest please let me know and we will get together to bowl and have
fun.
We are updating our chapter
website. Dusty McKeon and Tony Crespin are working hard on us a
new look for our website. This should be up and running in March. We will be
having our newsletter on the website each month. If there is anything that you
would like to put in the newsletter I will need it by the 28th of
each month for the next month, any Jaycee member can enter an article in the
newsletter. Just email it to me at
aandbperry@hotmail.com. So get your articles to me by March 28, 2006 for
April’s newsletter. I want to hear from everyone.
This past month I have done
some training and visiting. I will have to say that I have really enjoyed the
month of February. My son and I attended the Marietta meeting, Kennesaw Chili
cook off, and Woodstock and Marietta installation banquet. I have attended the
Relay of Life captains meeting, LOTS, ROTS and the National JCI meeting in
Gatlinburg, Tennessee. I have received a lot of good training from both LOTS
and ROTS, good going State staff and Region staff. I am a proud member of not
only the North Fulton Jaycees, but also of the Mountain Region Jaycees and the
Georgia Jaycees. In Gatlinburg, oh my what can I say, that was a fun time and I
will do my best to go back next year. And Tennessee knows that the Georgia
Jaycees are alive and kicking there were more Georgia Jaycees there than
Tennessee, from what I hear. If you are interested in visiting other chapters
let me know, because I love to visit my friends and make new friends, my only
prevision is that I don’t travel far during the week, because I do have to get
my son in bed on time and make sure homework is done.
A look ahead for April for
the Management area:
April 10- Chapter meeting
April 19- CPG Training
April 22- State Headquarter
workday, CPG Judging and Executive meeting in Perry
April 24- Start Pizza and
Etc. sales and Chapter meeting
April 28- newsletter
article due for May newsletter
April 29- North Fulton
Poker Tournament
Thank you,
Andrea Perry

the Valentine’s Day Social. We had a lot of fun and as always there was great
comradely. Thank you to President Dave and Connie for coming out to join in the
fun and for swear us all in. As I have grown in the Jaycees, I see how important
it is to have people that you admire and respect installing the chapter
