North Fulton Jaycees March 2007 Newsletter

President: Jessica Buckles

Welcome to March, with the first two months behind us now, I want everyone to know that your board has been working extremely hard so that our chapter will succeed at the end of the year.

Management is getting ready to gear up for some of our annual projects and is looking for you to come out and have fun. Community has been getting our name out there and we have begun to work in new territories. ID is getting us business partners and working very hard with the Star Student program. Beware he will be asking you to compete this year. Membership is working diligently on a new chapter and has been keeping our numbers up there.

Everyone else on the board has been doing a great job as well. Our meetings are picking back up and if you have not been to one this year they are a lot of fun. Our first meeting in March will be a dinner meeting we would love for you to come.

The training has just begun and if you want to learn more about this wonderful organization just call me to find out about the next class.

It has been fun serving you so far and I look forward to Rising to the Challenge.

Rise to the Challenge.
Jessica Buckles
2007 North Fulton President

Management VP: Tony Crespin

I am both honored and flattered to have been asked to do the job of MDVP for the great Chapter of North Fulton!

First off, I would like to congratulate each of you (the chapter), the vice Presidents and Mrs. Jessica, for the great job that everyone is doing. For if it was not for your achievements in the participation and running of successful projects to promote Leadership, Community Service, and Character we would not be the successful young leadership organization that we are today.

An honor such as this is a wonderful way for the State and Community to recognize and celebrate the choices, and sometimes the sacrifices, we have made.

But I believe that North Fulton can march as # 1 not only in Region, but also in State. A friend once told me, "The reward of a thing well done is to have done it." Any recognition is just the icing on the cake, not to be expected but definitely to be enjoyed. However, I challenge you not to rest on the goals we have achieved this far but to continue to strive towards the goals we have set.

Rise to the Challenge.

Management Development Vice President

Community VP: Maria Basting

Hey North Fulton!

I want to thank everyone who has helped make my job easier and our community development stronger. It is really hard to be in charge of such an important part of our chapter. As Community Development Vice President I never want to have to say no to anyone who needs help. Thanks to all of you, so far I haven't had to. I want to say a special thanks to Lisa Morris for helping get donations for the United Way Shoe Boxes. Wendy Whitfield, you are a very special young lady, I hope that if I have a daughter she turns out just like you. I know that the families around the state of Georgia have loved receiving your beautiful cards. Thank you. Claire, thank you for all you did for the Valentines Day Social and all the hard work you put into making sure we had a great night, Karen, Wendell, and Jess thank you for always listening and helping me with hard choices. Casey, thank you for putting up with my stress.

Now for upcoming events in March. We will be hosting Texas Hold'em Tournament on March 10, 2007 at 6 pm. We will be serving Dinner at 5pm for $5. The proceeds will be going to the Easter Baskets we are going to be donating to Noah's Ark. For those of you who have not heard of Noah's Ark, it is a neat place that fosters children and animals. We will be taking the Easter Baskets down to Noah's Ark on April 7, 2007. More details to come. If you would like to come to Noah's Ark or help with putting the Easter Baskets together, Please call me. And as always any donations will be great!

April is fast approaching and we have a great new project in the works thanks to Sarah Hill. We will be hosting our 1st annual Benefit Ride for Relay for Life. Sarah has already been working very hard on this project and I know she could use some help. It will be taking place on April 28, 2007 at 10:30am (no start location yet, TBA). The fee is $25 per driver and $10 per rider. Please spread the word and let me or Sarah Hill know if you would like to help.

Again a big thanks to everyone. Please keep the hard work up!

Hey everyone! Hope everyone is doing well. We are quickly approaching our first trimester competitions and it is time to start thinking about what you are going to compete in. Please let me know what you are interested in competing in. Remember.... Competitions are to help better ourselves for life.

Please remember that Sarah Hill will be representing our Chapter at nationals very soon. Congratulations again Sarah.

Also, congratulations to our Star Student Twins for the Month of February. We are looking forward to honoring these two on March 2nd.

FYI…… Mystery Dinner Theater is being moved, more details to come, keep your eyes and ears open for those.

Prayer requests

We have several prayer requests for families in our Ga. Jaycee family. We are and have always been one big family and need to be there and support our members when our prayers are needed. Prayer works in mysterious ways and is bigger than any problem or conflict we encounter so we are asking that these members and their families stay in your prayers.

We want to send our heartfelt sympathy out to Bob Prater (North Fulton member) for the loss of his father. Our prayers are with him.

Savannah Jaycee President Julie Hattans father has passed away after an extended illness. Please keep her and her family in your prayers as she will be traveling to Canada.

Wendy Cowart of the Swainsboro Jaycees has lost her mother that was in hospice care. Ron (her husband) and Wendy are JCI Senators and Rebel Corps Colonels. Keep this family in your prayers.

Beverly Hamby has requested our prayers as her nephew Alan Laster was just recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Keep him in your prayers as they are waiting for test results to determine what kind of cancer it is and what stage it is in. He is an 18 year old Woodstock Jaycee and deserves and needs our prayers.

Lisa Ann Betts, the Georgia Jaycee editor and Marietta Jaycee, has lost her Grandfather and we will update you with more info when we have it.

Please keep Tracy Perry in your prayers, her mother is sick a lot and has been losing a lot of weight, her daughters foot has been hurting since the cast came off and her 2nd cousin has passed away after along battle with cancer.

Please keep all these members and families in your prayers. Thanks and may God be with you.
